A Sensory Safe Haven at Hill House

A sensory delight for service users: Our refurbishment, extension and creation of a sensory garden at Leonard Cheshire Disability, Sandbach is an enriching and comforting environment from which the charity can deliver expert services.

The new and DDA compliant single-storey extension is comprised of strip foundations, beam and block floor, load bearing masonry walls, a Sarnafil single ply flat roof, with electric opening rooflights, rain sensors and aluminium bi-fold doors. Within this new build is an activity room with underfloor heating and sensory lighting.

We refurbished the dining room and the old offices were transformed into four new bedrooms. We converted a bungalow to provide a physiotherapy suite. Also installing a brand new kitchen and WC facilities. And we converted a maintenance room to provide a new laundry.

Externally, a beautiful sensory garden has been designed, complete with hard and soft landscapes. Interactive features, such as push button and PIR activated lighting, water features, animal noises and music were installed, making this an truly inspiring outdoor space.
